Directors Note

During the last 6 years living in a foreign land, by fate or by choice, I detached myself from a familiar land with a new family and language. While listening to the sound of heavy snowfall during endless winters in western Massachusetts, I found my soul trapped much like the skinny branches were trapped within chilly ice. To once again feel attached to something, I threw myself into the strange city of New York to join the noise and feel the vibrating blood of the crowds. As I walked seemingly invisible amongst everyone, I seemed to hear their stories much like the angel does in
"Wing of the Desire". Their worries and happiness over mundane affairs touch and inspire me. That is what causes me to reconnect with myself.

"Blue Fire" is a simple story about a young Chinese man, Jack, who is seeking love and human warmth. He enters the big city with a broken heart from a failed love affair and ends up with a confused heart from an illusion of love. In French, " Blue" carries the aura of young love. Young love is passionate and full of desire, but has a vulnerability that can be hurtful. Still, young love is beautiful and unforgettable.

The background of the story is set in New York City's Chinatown, a major tourist attraction. While shooting there amongst all the toursts, our camera focused on the people sits behind the colorful Chinese souvenir. We wereaiming to tell an ordinary man's story of a frustrating moment in his life.
